Low Yuen WeiYuen Wei graduated from National University of Singapore's Theatre Studies programme and completed the coursework for Master of Mass Communication at Nanyang Technological University. In 1998, she trained for a year at the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Italy, and attended the Theatre Ecology Workshop conducted by James Slowiak and Jiaro Cuesta. She dedicates her research to the study of the relationship between rituals, traditional forms and a performer's body, and is well-versed in various forms of Bodily-Kinesthetic training such as Yoga, contemporary dance and Tai Chi. For the last 8 years, she has made regular field research trips to Nepal and India, made observations, and participated in Indian Yoga, Tibetan yoga and religious rituals.
She founded In Source Theatre in 2001 and has directed and performed in more than 15 works with the company, among them O, Dance of Existence, Dreams Rhythm, Obsessive Repulsive Madness and Mandala, which played to full-houses in Italy and Poland. She also presented a paper and work demonstration on In Source Theatre’s training methodology at the Hawaii International Conference on Arts & Humanities 2006. From 2005 to 2007, she also spearheaded the practice-oriented research project Defining "Spiritual Theatre": a Cross-cultural Study of Rituals and Traditional Body Forms in Singapore funded by a Research and Development Grant awarded by the National Arts Council.
Chan Yi WenYi Wen’s career in the performing arts began when she was 18. A full-time artiste with In Source Theatre, she made her theatrical debut in early 2000 and has performed in more than 20 productions and films, including Theatre OX’s 0 (2000) and Dance of Existence (2002), and In Source Theatre’s Dreams Rhythm (2002) which toured Italy and Poland. She performed in Obsessive Repulsive Madness at the Wegajty International Festival in 2004, and Mandala at 12th ‘Theatre Confrontations’ International Festival in 2007. A deep interest in traditional Indian and Tibetan art forms has moved her to visit Nepal in 2002 and 2004, and India in 2005. She was also a research assistant on Defining “Spiritual Theatre”: a Cross-cultural Study of Rituals and Traditional Body Forms in Singapore.
Jacklyn KuahA dance instructor and choreographer for schools and adults, Jacklyn has trained in Chinese cultural dance from a young age. She has performed in more than 30 productions and films, including Celebratory Song of the Dead (In Source Theatre, 2006), The Road (In Source Theatre, 2005), Breathe! You Are Alive (In Source Theatre, 2005), Incredible Tales (Mediacorp TV, 2005), The Lovely Ghost (Singapore I-Lien Drama Society, 2004), Mercy (Meredith Monk and Ann Hamilton Ensemble, 2003), Butterfly Lovers 40 (Unusual Production, 2003) and Chase (Singapore I-Lien Drama Society, 2003). In 2007, she performed in Mandala at 12th ‘Theatre Confrontations’ International Festival. She was also a research assistant on Defining “Spiritual Theatre”: a Cross-cultural Study of Rituals and Traditional Body Forms in Singapore.
Xann TayXann was a full-time performer of In Source Theatre from 2003-2004. She performed in In Source Theatre’s Fun With Drums (2002), D-evil of Light (2002), Dreams Rhythm (2002), HA-KO (2003), Meditations (2003), Mandala (2003), I Dance I Wander I Wonder - school version (2004), Cage (2004), Obsessive Repulsive Madness (2004) and The Road (2005). She is currently the Production Stage Coordinator of In Source Theatre.
Vincent ChiaVincent Chia graduated from LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts in 1998. He has worked with notable directors like Jean Ng, William Teo, Ang Gey Pin and Low Yuen Wei since 1996. From 2001 to 2004, he spent 4 years researching how Martial Arts and Meditation enhance a performer’s state and body in theatre.
Some of his performing credits include Theatre OX’s War Valley Tiger Dream, Asia-in-Theatre Research Centre’s Painted House (1999), The Necessary Stage’s Exodus (1999), solo performance Die-bi An (2000), In Source Theatre’s Old Path, White Clouds (2005) & The Road (2005).
Pamela ChongPamela graduated from LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts. She has a passion for acting and has been performing professionally in theatre for 4 years. Some of her past works include Ghost Opera and ESTON by The Fun Stage, Top Girls by The Stage Club and In Source Theatre’s I Dance I Wander I Wonder and The Road. She has also been involved in the Arts Education Programme (AEP) with D’rama and TheatreWorks. In 2007, she performed in Mandala at 12th ‘Theatre Confrontations’ International Festival.
KithsaTan Kiang Khiang (Kithsa) is an electronic music composer who also dabbles in sound engineering, deejaying, and audio recording. First starting out in the NUS Electronic Music Lab (EML), he was exposed to various opportunities to produce and perform electronic music in a diverse range of settings, from EML concerts to music for theatre and musicals.
